EcomCoder Setup Guide

This guide will help you quickly connect your Shopify store with EcomCoder so you can start editing and customizing your theme using AI.

Follow the three simple steps below — the entire process takes less than 5 minutes.

Step 1: Store URL (Shop Access)

First, enter your Shopify Store URL in the EcomCoder setup form. This URL typically looks like yourstore.myshopify.com.

How to find your Store URL:

1. Go to your Shopify Admin Dashboard
2. Navigate to Settings → Domains

1. Copy your Shopify URL (the one ending in .myshopify.com)
2. Paste it into the setup form at www.ecomcoder.com/dashboard/setup (you need to be logged in first)

Step 2: Theme Access Password (API Access)

EcomCoder needs permission to securely view and modify your theme code. This is done through an official Shopify app called Theme Access.

Steps:

1. Visit the Shopify Theme Access App (official app by Shopify)
2. Click Install to add the app into your store
3. After installation, open the Theme Access app from your Shopify dashboard
4. Click Create Password (top right corner)

1. Fill in the required information:

   • Developer Name — Your name or company name
   • Developer Email — The email where you'll receive the password

2. Click Create Password

3. Check your email for a message from Shopify containing your Theme Access Password

4. Copy the password and paste it into Step 2 of the EcomCoder setup form

Step 3: Admin API Access Token (AI Store Integration)

This final step allows the AI to access your product data and metafields — enabling smart editing capabilities and personalized recommendations.

Steps:

1. In your Shopify Dashboard, go to Settings → Apps and sales channels

2. Click Develop apps (top right)

3. Click Create an app (top right)

4. Give it a name, such as "EcomCoder AI"

5. Under the app's Overview tab, click Configure Admin API scopes

1. Search for "read_product" and select:
   • read_products
   • write_products
2. Click Save
3. After saving, click Install app (top right)

1. Once installed, click Reveal token once to view your Admin API access token

1. Copy the token and paste it into Step 3 of the EcomCoder setup form
2. Click Connect

All Set!

EcomCoder will now securely link with your Shopify store. A duplicate of your live theme will be created for AI editing — your published store remains completely untouched.
